Renting a portable shipping container for storage is simple with a little preparation. Here are a few tips to make it easy for you.

1. Have the following information prior to calling.

• Your desired location, usually the city, state  and zip code is a good start.
• Size needed-20' storage container or 40' storage container.
• Application-be prepared to discuss what you will store.
• Length of rental. Longer rentals usually offer the best pricing, possibly with discounts on delivery or monthly charges.

2. Find local vendors by word of mouth, reputation or if needed by an online search. Call several for quotes. Ask if there are any additional fees, fuel surcharges or anything over delivery, pick up, monthly rent and sales tax. Lots of companies will add small fees and charges taking a $75.00 per month bill to over $100. Ask for your quote in writing. First invoices often include rent, delivery and pick up. 

3. Be prepared to fill out a credit application and wait several days for approval. Our company doesn't have a lengthy approval process (most applicants approved right away by phone). However, many other companies may send your credit application to another department for approval. This often leads to lost time when you need a fast turn around.

4. Discuss your delivery. Ask when and how your container will arrive. Your storage professional should be able to clearly guide you in the delivery process.

5. Ask about appearance. Are you getting a rusted, multicolored shipping container or something clean and fresh looking? 

6. Request how you would like to communicate. These days that might be email, text or phone. Providing more than one name and point of contact is a great idea.
